STEM Grades K–2

STEM on OLE for grades K–2 gives you access to relevant, hands-on activities for a variety of topics that allow students to work through the design process by creating their own solutions to real-world problems. Each project provides regular opportunities for students to practice both scientific inquiry and the engineering process to ultimately improve their critical thinking skills and their ability to think innovatively.

Rain Gauge Lab: How Does the Rain Measure Up?

Explore engineering design principles as students design and build their own rain gauges. Then, students can compare and modify their designs to make their gauges even better.

Go to Weather and Climate Interactivity: Reading a Rain Gauge

Weather and Climate Interactivity: Reading a Rain Gauge

Students can learn how to use and read a rain gauge with this fun digital interactivity.

Go to Rain Gauge Video: Tools for Measuring Weather

Rain Gauge Video: Tools for Measuring Weather

Do your students know how scientists measure and predict weather? Show them how using this short, informative video.

Go to Rain Gauge Video: Weather Forecasting

Rain Gauge Video: Weather Forecasting

How do you know when to put those rain gauges to use? Students can learn about ways to predict rain, and whether or not they work.
